La sceneggiatura fu adattata da George F. Fish e Luella Forepaugh dalla loro opera teatrale in 4 atti del 1897.
Il film uscì dopo 7 mesi dalla morte dell'attore Richard Mansfield il quale creò il personaggio Jekyll/Hyde in teatro con Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, debuttato nel 1887.
Trama: Un rispettabile dottore londinese, il dottor Jekyll, dopo aver sperimentato su sé stesso una potente pozione di sua invenzione, si trasforma nel terrificante Hyde che incarna il suo lato più oscuro e malvagio. commettendo orrendi delitti che Jekyll può interrompere solo suicidandosi.
Meriti: purtroppo è andata perduta la pellicola ma è testimonianza della prima messa in scena del romanzo.
